Leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) such as ASML, VDL and Philips want to create an environment of innovative technology which will develop and expand technical knowledge in the Brainport region. Next to large companies investing in technological progress, the Technical University of Eindhoven (TU/e) provides excellent and professional education to students with particular technical skills. The TU/e is growing in status as the university is climbing to the top in many lists which evaluate the performances of universities. A rise on these lists generates many benefits for universities as therefore more students are attracted towards Eindhoven and this will in turn increase the human capital available in the region Eindhoven. Creating human capital is one thing but by the investments being made by OEM’s, human capital is more likely to stay in the region.
During the most recent elections, concerning the Dutch parliament, many political parties discussed the idea of the rumours that Tesla wants to have a giant manufacturing plant in Europe. Some of the parties saw Eindhoven Brainport as a perfect candidate due to their vast knowledge on technological grounds. This once more shows the reputation and ambition of the Brainport region to try and compete with other regions to attain this popular Tesla plant.
Both the current status and ambition of Brainport makes the region of Eindhoven increasingly attractive for businesses and students. These two in turn strengthen each other as businesses thrive when their employees have more (technical) know how. Thus far a short introduction to the majestic Eindhoven Brainport, for more information please head to their site.
